I think it was 1994 when I got invited to perform at the Belgian Country Music Awards,
and I didn't know quite what to expect. I'd never played in Belgium before, and figured it'd
likely be a pretty small event. It wasn't. The awards show took place in a big hall not far
from Brussels, and it was really nice. I was playing some gigs in the Netherlands at the
time, so the band and I drove down to Belgium for a couple of days. We did an hour show,
and I also got to present an award. An excellent time was had by all. When we were done,
I headed over to Brussels for some of the moules et frites for which it's justly famous.
